Gateway has developed a user-friendly, SharePoint solution for Drafting Requests that’s capable of creating, scoping, and managing the entire process. It can be rapidly configured to follow an existing procedure and leverage SharePoint’s document management capabilities to deliver secure, enterprise-wide access to all the associated analytical data, drawings, documents and forms.
There are three kinds of Drafting Requests available in FACILEX®.
- Simple action item inside another business process
- Stand-alone drafting request
- Drafting requests linked to another business process
The diagram indicates that the lifecycle begins with the Initiation state. The DR is “promoted” from one state to the next.
Initiation: The DR is initiated by completing an electronic form.
Active: The assigned drafter(s) work to complete the drawing(s). The progress may be easily updated and tracked by the application. The action items may include review and approval according to a procedure. The specific persons doing the drafting, reviews and approvals are usually dependent on the discipline i.e. mechanical, electrical, piping, etc. Gateway’s DR application can handle all the commonly encountered ways of assigning action items.
Records Management: Drawings are corporate records that must be kept for many years. SharePoint is an outstanding platform for this purpose.
